On leaving Java I say good-bye with the greatest regret.
I want to thank you, Scouts for the extremely kind welcome
you gave me at each place I visited.
I want to to congratulate you on your smartness,
your effiency, and you jolly cheery spirit of obedience to the Scout Law.
I am glad to carry with me your good wishes to your Brother Scouts
of many nations I shall meet at the Jamboree in Australia.
I only wish you could be there too!
Now that I know you personally I shall watch further
doings and progress with all the greater interest.
So go ahead as you have begun.
Carry out the Scout Law of helpfulness to other people
and of friendliness to animals.
Make yourselves healthy and hard-working,
not only for the good of yourselves,
but so that you may become fine men for the good of your country.
